Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Burbank, California, on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a skilled individual who thrives in dynamic environments and can oversee accounting operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position involves managing a team, leading financial processes, and supporting audit and compliance initiatives. Responsibilities: - Oversee all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial reports. - Supervise a team of accounting staff, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost accounting personnel. - Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and internal reports for company operations. - Lead audit-related activities, including implementing recommendations from first-year compliance reviews. - Collaborate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and ensure successful audit completion. - Partner closely with the company President and parent company Controller to align reporting processes and compliance standards. - Utilize the ERP system for transaction processing and financial reporting. - Support compliance initiatives and readiness for regulatory frameworks, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). - Address and manage any gaps in the accounting team, including potential oversight of an open Accounting Manager role. Requirements - Proven experience as a Controller or Interim Controller, ideally within a public company or during a compliance transition. - Strong expertise in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting processes. - In-depth knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control frameworks. - Demonstrated ability to lead and manage accounting teams effectively. - Experience working with external auditors, with Big 4 audit experience being a plus. - Proficiency in using ERP systems for accounting operations. - CPA or equivalent accounting credential strongly preferred. - Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
