Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the College of Natural Sciences provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, alongside our degrees in microbiology, physics, and a forensic science and exercise science program.
This is a face-to-face part time opportunity. MUST be available to come to the main campus.
This position is a part-time Teaching Assistant position.
Course: General Physics I - Lecture
This course is a study of basic concepts of physics, including motion; forces; energy; the properties of solids, liquids, and gases; and heat and thermodynamics. The mathematics used includes algebra, trigonometry, and vector analysis. A primary course goal is to build a functional knowledge that allows students to more fully understand the physical world and to apply that understanding to other areas of the natural and mathematical sciences. Conceptual, visual, graphical, and mathematical models of physical phenomena are stressed. Students build critical thinking skills by engaging in individual and group problem-solving sessions.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

Assists instruction with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations.
Observes students’ performance, and records relevant data to aid instructor in assessing progress
Coordinates study groups outside of class to tutor students on class material
May facilitate additional ad hoc lectures as a refresher to classroom formal lecture
Assists with grading assignments
Proctors occasional make up examinations/assignments
Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
Qualifications:
Completed Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution on date of application submission.
Must have sufficient courses in any of the following: Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering as well as having received a grade of B or higher in these courses.
